Guest accommodations at Thorn Hill Inn are housed in two separate buildings that date back to the 1790s, and have been lavishly restored. The estate’s original guest house—the Cottage—is a private, stand-alone accommodation with a queen bed, kitchenette, opulent shower, sitting area with fireplace, and private screened-in porch. The other guest building—the Lodge—originally housed the Estate’s kitchen and now hosts two private luxury suites, with a shared living area with modern kitchen and dining table.

All guests enjoy luxurious linens, private baths, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, high-speed Internet access, and a home cooked breakfast. Step back into history while enjoying 21st-century amenities.

Built in 1792, the original Thorn Hill Estate is listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places and is a Virginia Historic Landmark. This estate has been described as one of the finest late Georgian houses and one of the most historically significant homes in southwest Virginia.

The main house is the centerpiece of this stunning property and sets the tone for our Virginia country retreat. Our three other historic buildings include The Cottage, The Lodge and our relaxing Yoga Barn, all situated around a 19th century fountain in our courtyard. Come discover this charming southern retreat.

Thorn Hill Inn is a delight for the senses. The property includes 17 magnificently landscaped acres on a ridge with rolling pastures that are home to cows, chickens, sheep, and two miniature donkeys. The grounds are graced with oak, chestnut, walnut, and magnolia trees, as well as boxwoods, lilacs, and dogwoods, many of which are more than a hundred years old. Savor Organic and Locally Sourced Ingredients

We offer guests a complimentary full breakfast and take pride in the food we serve, which is always fresh and locally sourced. The eggs, seasonal vegetables and fruits are all organic and come from our farm. All of our breakfast meats are locally sourced. Even our coffee is roasted locally by the award-winning Lexington Coffee Roasters. Guests can enjoy breakfast on the porch of the barn or in their lodgings. For guests who will be departing early, we are pleased to provide a continental breakfast prior to departure. We are happy to accommodate special diets and food allergies.
